Which units this covers, and how to tell yours is one of them
Every answer below is scoped to these model identifiers. A neighbouring model in the same line can use a different part, a different reset sequence or a different radio, so matching the identifier before following a procedure is the step that decides whether the rest of the page applies to you.

What is true of this model and changes how you fix it
These are the properties that decide which procedure applies. Each is read from the manufacturer’s own published figures for this model, not carried over from a sibling that shares its retail name.
- Type — ANC Bluetooth earbuds (battery)
- Bose's standard flagship-ANC earbuds (no Immersive Audio — that is the Ultra) with a charging case. Battery/ANC/Bluetooth and earbud-specific symptoms (fit, tips, case contacts) apply.
- Fit & CustomTune
- Fit bands plus ear tips, with CustomTune calibration at insertion; ANC and bass depend on the seal, so wrong-sized tips/bands are the usual cause of thin sound or weak ANC.
- Case & battery
- Buds charge in the case; dirty case contacts leave a bud starting low. ANC on at high volume shortens runtime.
- Power path
- Internal or removable battery. Every capability that costs current — night vision, higher stream quality, longer recordings, frequent events — is paid for in runtime, so a change in behaviour after a settings change is usually a power consequence rather than a fault. Cold weather reduces usable capacity sharply.

Questions that only have an answer for the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II
Each answer below uses this model’s own published figures. The same question asked about a different model in the line has a different answer, which is why it is answered here rather than on a general page.
One of my Bose QC Earbuds II won't charge in the case.+
Clean the charging contacts — earwax and lint on the bud's contacts and the matching pins in the case are the common cause of one bud not charging, so wipe both with a dry cotton bud. Make sure the bud seats fully in its slot (a magnet should pull it in). If a bud still will not charge or connect, reset the earbuds per Bose's steps and re-pair. The buds also pair to each other, so a dropped link between them can leave one silent.
Structured depth, not empty permutations
Every published record carries a direct answer, scope, ordered fixes, risk notes and sources.
