What is true of this model and changes how you fix it

These are the properties that decide which procedure applies. Each is read from the manufacturer’s own published figures for this model, not carried over from a sibling that shares its retail name.

Type — large portable Bluetooth speaker (battery)
A larger, louder portable BLUETOOTH speaker with a battery — no WiFi. Battery/charging/Bluetooth symptoms apply, not WiFi streaming. It has a headphone jack on its remote-free design and a USB-C that can also charge devices.
Battery & charging
Around 20 hours rated; loud volume shortens it. Charges by USB-C; it can also power-share to a phone, which drains it faster.
Pairing & app
Bluetooth pairing via the button or the Bose app; auto-reconnects to the last device, so turn off a competing device if it grabs the wrong one.
Power path
Internal or removable battery. Every capability that costs current — night vision, higher stream quality, longer recordings, frequent events — is paid for in runtime, so a change in behaviour after a settings change is usually a power consequence rather than a fault. Cold weather reduces usable capacity sharply.

Questions that only have an answer for the Bose SoundLink Max speaker

Each answer below uses this model’s own published figures. The same question asked about a different model in the line has a different answer, which is why it is answered here rather than on a general page.

My Bose SoundLink Max battery is draining even when I'm not playing music.+

If you are using its USB-C port to charge a phone or other device, the speaker is powering that from its own battery, which drains it noticeably — turn off power-sharing when you do not need it. Otherwise, a speaker left on with Bluetooth active uses some standby power; turn it off between uses. Loud playback is the biggest drain in normal use. A big long-term drop in runtime points to battery ageing.

Structured depth, not empty permutations

Every published record carries a direct answer, scope, ordered fixes, risk notes and sources.

Device and manufacturer hubs share a consistent record system, but each answer carries the relevant controls, fault boundaries, consequences and official support entry point for that platform.
