Which units this covers, and how to tell yours is one of them

Every answer below is scoped to these model identifiers. A neighbouring model in the same line can use a different part, a different reset sequence or a different radio, so matching the identifier before following a procedure is the step that decides whether the rest of the page applies to you.

What is true of this model and changes how you fix it

These are the properties that decide which procedure applies. Each is read from the manufacturer’s own published figures for this model, not carried over from a sibling that shares its retail name.

Type — portable battery speaker (WiFi + BT)
A portable, battery-powered speaker that works on WiFi at home (full Sonos app/multiroom) AND Bluetooth away from WiFi. Weatherproof for outdoor use. So it has both battery symptoms (runtime/charging) and Sonos WiFi symptoms.
WiFi vs Bluetooth modes
On WiFi it behaves like any Sonos (app control, grouping); switch to Bluetooth for use away from your network. Battery drains faster on WiFi streaming with voice than on Bluetooth. Returns to the charge base/USB-C to charge.
Charging
Charges on its ring base or by USB-C; a speaker that starts sessions low is not fully seating on the base — the reason it seems to have short runtime.
Power path
Internal or removable battery. Every capability that costs current — night vision, higher stream quality, longer recordings, frequent events — is paid for in runtime, so a change in behaviour after a settings change is usually a power consequence rather than a fault. Cold weather reduces usable capacity sharply.

Questions that only have an answer for the Sonos Move 2 speaker

Each answer below uses this model’s own published figures. The same question asked about a different model in the line has a different answer, which is why it is answered here rather than on a general page.

My Sonos Move 2 battery doesn't last as long as I expected.+

Runtime depends on how you use it: streaming over WiFi with the microphone/voice active draws more than Bluetooth playback at moderate volume, and loud volume drains it fast. The rated figure is for moderate use. Make sure it is returning to a full charge on its base (a Move that does not seat fully starts partly depleted), and use Bluetooth and lower volume to stretch runtime. A big long-term drop means the battery has aged.
