Which units this covers, and how to tell yours is one of them

Every answer below is scoped to these model identifiers. A neighbouring model in the same line can use a different part, a different reset sequence or a different radio, so matching the identifier before following a procedure is the step that decides whether the rest of the page applies to you.

Published specification

What is true of this model and changes how you fix it

These are the properties that decide which procedure applies. Each is read from the manufacturer’s own published figures for this model, not carried over from a sibling that shares its retail name.

Tier — mainstream 2-in-1 CONVERTIBLE (Windows 11)
A mainstream 14-inch Windows 11 convertible — 360° flip into tablet/tent/stand modes with a touchscreen and pen support, below the premium Spectre in materials. Tablet-mode and pen symptoms apply.
Convertible modes
Folding past the keyboard switches to tablet mode and disables the keyboard/trackpad by design. Auto-rotate is toggled in the Action Center.
Pen
Supports an active pen; a pen issue is usually a flat battery, unpaired Bluetooth pen, or wrong pen. Includes USB-A and HDMI plus USB-C.
Power path
Internal or removable battery. Every capability that costs current — night vision, higher stream quality, longer recordings, frequent events — is paid for in runtime, so a change in behaviour after a settings change is usually a power consequence rather than a fault. Cold weather reduces usable capacity sharply.

Questions that only have an answer for the HP Envy x360 14-fa

Each answer below uses this model’s own published figures. The same question asked about a different model in the line has a different answer, which is why it is answered here rather than on a general page.

The pen isn't writing on my HP ENVY x360.+

Check the pen first: replace or recharge its battery (many HP pens use a AAAA battery or USB-C charge), make sure it is paired over Bluetooth if it has buttons, and confirm it is an HP/MPP-compatible active pen for this model — a random stylus will not give pressure/tilt. Then test in an app that supports pen input, and update the HP and Windows Ink drivers. A dead pen battery is by far the most common 'pen not working' cause.

Structured depth, not empty permutations

Every published record carries a direct answer, scope, ordered fixes, risk notes and sources.
