Which units this covers, and how to tell yours is one of them

Every answer below is scoped to these model identifiers. A neighbouring model in the same line can use a different part, a different reset sequence or a different radio, so matching the identifier before following a procedure is the step that decides whether the rest of the page applies to you.

Not applicable to this hardware
This SimpliSafe Key Fob does not have the hardware for: will not stay connected to Wi-Fi; notifications are late, missing or excessive; does not respond to voice control; will not connect through Matter, HomeKit or another platform; firmware update is stuck or failed. Those symptoms have no page here for this model rather than a page that guesses.

Published specification

What is true of this model and changes how you fix it

These are the properties that decide which procedure applies. Each is read from the manufacturer’s own published figures for this model, not carried over from a sibling that shares its retail name.

Range
SimpliSafe states you can arm and disarm from up to 30 ft away. That is a short range by design — it is a car-key-style device, not a remote you use from down the street.
Battery — not user replaceable
SimpliSafe states plainly that the battery is not user replaceable. It is a CR-2032 Lithium 3V cell rated up to 5 years. When it goes, the device is replaced rather than serviced — which makes every other battery procedure on this site inapplicable to this one component.
Size
1 x 3 x 0.25 inches.
Panic function
With a monitoring plan, the Key Fob's panic button alerts the monitoring centre. It can be customised for audible or silent alarms and set up for medical alerts.
Power path
Internal or removable battery. Every capability that costs current — night vision, higher stream quality, longer recordings, frequent events — is paid for in runtime, so a change in behaviour after a settings change is usually a power consequence rather than a fault. Cold weather reduces usable capacity sharply.
Radio
A manufacturer-specific sub-GHz radio to the base station rather than Wi-Fi. It travels further through structure than Wi-Fi does and is unaffected by router changes — which means a Wi-Fi problem and a sensor problem are genuinely separate investigations here.

Exact questions

Questions that only have an answer for the SimpliSafe Key Fob

Each answer below uses this model’s own published figures. The same question asked about a different model in the line has a different answer, which is why it is answered here rather than on a general page.

How do I change the Key Fob battery?+

You do not. SimpliSafe states the battery is not user replaceable — the CR-2032 cell is rated up to 5 years and when it is done the fob is replaced. This is the one SimpliSafe component where 'replace the battery' is not an available step, so a dead fob is a replacement rather than a repair.

How far away does the Key Fob work?+

Up to 30 ft, per SimpliSafe. It is deliberately short-range — a car-key-style device for the doorstep, not something to use from the end of the drive. Trying to arm from further away and concluding it is faulty is a common misreading.

Does the Key Fob's panic button work?+

With a monitoring plan, yes — it alerts the monitoring centre, and it can be set for an audible or silent alarm and for medical alerts. Without a plan it triggers the local alarm and nobody is dispatched.

My Key Fob stopped working. What are my options?+

Confirm range first — 30 ft is the specification, and testing from too far away accounts for a lot of these. If it genuinely no longer responds close up, the sealed non-replaceable battery means replacement is the path, and there is no procedure that recovers it.
