Which units this covers, and how to tell yours is one of them
Every answer below is scoped to these model identifiers. A neighbouring model in the same line can use a different part, a different reset sequence or a different radio, so matching the identifier before following a procedure is the step that decides whether the rest of the page applies to you.

What is true of this model and changes how you fix it
These are the properties that decide which procedure applies. Each is read from the manufacturer’s own published figures for this model, not carried over from a sibling that shares its retail name.
- Device type — streaming player, not a TV
- A small 4K streaming box for a TV's HDMI port; no panel of its own, so picture settings are on the TV. Runs Roku OS.
- HDR — no Dolby Vision
- The Express 4K does 4K with HDR10 and HDR10+, but NOT Dolby Vision — that is reserved for the Streaming Stick 4K and the Ultra. A 'why is there no Dolby Vision' question on this model is answered by the hardware tier, not a setting or a fault.
- Connectivity
- Dual-band Wi-Fi, no Ethernet port. Powered by USB or the supplied adapter. For buffering, move it closer to the router or step up to the Ultra (Ethernet).

Questions that only have an answer for the Roku Express 4K
Each answer below uses this model’s own published figures. The same question asked about a different model in the line has a different answer, which is why it is answered here rather than on a general page.
Why won't my Roku Express 4K play Dolby Vision?+
The Express 4K does not support Dolby Vision — it tops out at HDR10 and HDR10+. Dolby Vision on Roku starts with the Streaming Stick 4K and the Ultra. So a title that offers Dolby Vision will play in HDR10/HDR10+ here instead; that is the model's limit, not a fault, and no update adds Dolby Vision to this hardware.
Structured depth, not empty permutations
