Which units this covers, and how to tell yours is one of them

Every answer below is scoped to these model identifiers. A neighbouring model in the same line can use a different part, a different reset sequence or a different radio, so matching the identifier before following a procedure is the step that decides whether the rest of the page applies to you.

What is true of this model and changes how you fix it

These are the properties that decide which procedure applies. Each is read from the manufacturer’s own published figures for this model, not carried over from a sibling that shares its retail name.

Panel — QLED FALD LCD
2020 QLED with full-array local dimming — a backlight, so blooming and raised dark-room blacks are normal. Bright and colourful, but LCD, not OLED or Mini-LED.
Gaming / HDMI — only ONE HDMI 2.1 port
The decisive fact: of the four HDMI ports, only ONE (HDMI 4) is HDMI 2.1 and supports 4K 120 Hz and VRR — the other three are HDMI 2.0. A PS5 or Xbox Series X that will not run 4K 120 Hz or VRR on a Q90T is almost always plugged into the wrong port. Move the console to HDMI 4.
No Dolby Vision
HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG only — no Dolby Vision, like all Samsung TVs.
Smart platform
Tizen with Smart Hub (an older Tizen generation). Update at Settings › Support › Software Update; on a 2020 set, an app that stops working can be one whose provider dropped support for this Tizen version — check for an app update before assuming a fault.

Exact questions

Questions that only have an answer for the Samsung Q90T QLED TV

Each answer below uses this model’s own published figures. The same question asked about a different model in the line has a different answer, which is why it is answered here rather than on a general page.

My PS5 won't do 4K 120Hz on my Samsung Q90T.+

On the 2020 Q90T only one HDMI port is HDMI 2.1 — HDMI 4. The other three are HDMI 2.0 and cannot carry 4K 120 Hz or VRR. Move the console to the HDMI 4 input, use a certified Ultra High Speed cable, and enable Game Mode. This is the single most common Q90T gaming problem and it is just the port, not a fault.
