Which units this covers, and how to tell yours is one of them

Every answer below is scoped to these model identifiers. A neighbouring model in the same line can use a different part, a different reset sequence or a different radio, so matching the identifier before following a procedure is the step that decides whether the rest of the page applies to you.

Published specification

What is true of this model and changes how you fix it

These are the properties that decide which procedure applies. Each is read from the manufacturer’s own published figures for this model, not carried over from a sibling that shares its retail name.

Panel — 8K Mini-LED LCD
Neo QLED 8K Mini-LED LCD. It has a backlight (blooming/raised blacks are normal LCD behaviour), and because native 8K content barely exists, almost everything you watch is being AI-upscaled from 4K or lower — soft or artefact-y upscaling of low-quality sources is the upscaler's limit, not a panel fault.
One Connect box
All inputs are on a separate One Connect box connected by one cable; the panel has no inputs. Signal, HDMI and ARC troubleshooting happens at the box.
No Dolby Vision
HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG only, like all Samsung TVs — no Dolby Vision.
Smart platform / gaming
Tizen, Smart Hub, Gaming Hub and Game Bar. Four HDMI 2.1 (on the One Connect box) supporting up to 4K 240 Hz / 8K 60 Hz, VRR and ALLM. Update at Settings › Support › Software Update.

Exact questions

Questions that only have an answer for the Samsung QN900D Neo QLED 8K TV

Each answer below uses this model’s own published figures. The same question asked about a different model in the line has a different answer, which is why it is answered here rather than on a general page.

Why does content look soft on my 8K Samsung QN900D?+

Native 8K content is extremely rare, so the QN900D is upscaling almost everything you watch from 4K or lower to fill its 8K panel. The AI upscaler is very good on clean 4K, but a low-bitrate or standard-definition source is being stretched far beyond its resolution and will look soft — that is the source and the upscaling, not a panel defect. Feed it the highest-quality source available for the sharpest result.

Structured depth, not empty permutations

Every published record carries a direct answer, scope, ordered fixes, risk notes and sources.
