Every answer below is scoped to these model identifiers. A neighbouring model in the same line can use a different part, a different reset sequence or a different radio, so matching the identifier before following a procedure is the step that decides whether the rest of the page applies to you.

What is true of this model and changes how you fix it

These are the properties that decide which procedure applies. Each is read from the manufacturer’s own published figures for this model, not carried over from a sibling that shares its retail name.

Panel — full-array LED LCD (not Mini-LED)
2023 full-array local-dimming LED LCD with the Cognitive Processor XR — a basic FALD backlight (around 88 zones), NOT Mini-LED (that is the X95L/BRAVIA 7). Fewer zones means more visible blooming and less precise contrast than a Mini-LED set; that is the tier, not a fault.
Smart platform
Google TV. Update at Settings › System › About › System software update; Chromecast built-in and AirPlay 2.
Dolby Vision — yes
Supports Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG and IMAX Enhanced — unlike Samsung.
Gaming / HDMI — 2 ports, one shared with eARC
Two HDMI 2.1 ports (HDMI 3 and 4) for 4K 120 Hz, VRR and ALLM; HDMI 3 is also eARC. Console on HDMI 4 if a soundbar takes eARC.

Questions that only have an answer for the Sony X90L Full Array LED TV

Each answer below uses this model’s own published figures. The same question asked about a different model in the line has a different answer, which is why it is answered here rather than on a general page.

Is the Sony X90L a Mini-LED TV?+

No. The X90L uses a conventional full-array local-dimming LED backlight (about 88 zones), while Sony's Mini-LED sets are the X95L and the 2024 BRAVIA 7/9. Fewer, larger zones mean more blooming and softer contrast than a Mini-LED — a tier difference, not a fault. The 2025 BRAVIA 5 is its Mini-LED successor.
