I see haloing around bright objects on my Sony X95L.+

That is backlight blooming, normal on a Mini-LED LCD like the X95L. Unlike an OLED it lights the picture with a zoned backlight, so a bright object on a dark background can show a faint halo. It is a characteristic of the panel technology, not a defect; the local-dimming setting adjusts the trade-off between blooming and shadow detail.
