What is true of this model and changes how you fix it
These are the properties that decide which procedure applies. Each is read from the manufacturer’s own published figures for this model, not carried over from a sibling that shares its retail name.
- Panel — QLED (not Mini-LED)
- 2024 QLED with conventional full-array local dimming — NOT the QD-Mini LED of the QM7/QM8. Fewer, larger dimming zones mean more visible blooming and softer contrast than the Mini-LED models; that is the tier, not a fault.
- Smart platform — Google TV
- Google TV. Update at Settings › System › About › System update; Chromecast built-in. Not a Roku TV.
- Gaming / HDMI
- Native 144 Hz with HDMI 2.1, VRR and ALLM — strong gaming for its price. Supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG. Enable Game Mode for the input.

Questions that only have an answer for the TCL Q7 QLED Google TV
Each answer below uses this model’s own published figures. The same question asked about a different model in the line has a different answer, which is why it is answered here rather than on a general page.
Is the TCL Q7 a Mini-LED TV?+
No. The Q7 is a QLED with a standard full-array local-dimming backlight, while the QM7 and QM8 are QD-Mini LED with far more dimming zones. The Q7 shows more blooming and less precise contrast as a result — a tier difference, not a fault — but it still has a fast 144 Hz panel with HDMI 2.1 for gaming.
